What Keeps You In The Rat Race?

Forbes cited a recent poll reporting that people are unhappier today than they've been in 50 years.  That should come as no surprise with a global pandemic and an economy teetering on disaster.  With millions of people working from home for the first time, I wonder how eager they are to get back into the rat race?

I'm sure there's some element of self-gratification...a sense of pride...when it comes to our willingness to run the rat race despite the challenges that come with it, but I believe what's really behind the chase is the hunger for the paycheck more than anything else.  A few hours commuting - a 10 or 12-hour workday - 5 or 6 days a week - and before you know it you have the money to meet your obligations.  The bills are paid, but the quality of life is lost in the process, that's for sure!

Since most Americans have less than $1,000 in savings it's not likely the rat race will end for them anytime soon...UNLESS they find a better way

It's interesting to watch people cling to "job security" when there are very few "secure" jobs in the world today.  It's fascinating to see people work "for the benefits" when all it ever takes to have benefits is the resources to buy them for yourself.

Millions of people have migrated to the USA for decades but they don't rush to the USA to get a secure job with benefits -  they're rushing to the land of opportunity to put their skills to work instead,  and most immigrants begin working for themselves as fast as they possibly can.  The American Dream is being lived out by others while Americans are caught up in the rat race for imaginary job security and a chance to have benefits...and 50% of them (according to Forbes) aren't happy.

Life is about more than going to work, getting a check, and paying the bills.  Sadly, debt drives the train for most families and it's debt that keeps the breadwinners in the rat race year after year.  Go to work...get a check...pay the bills.

There is a better way to live the American Dream.  One way is to open the mind to the idea of working for yourself; part-time or full time.  Not only will you have tremendous tax benefits so that you keep more of the money you make, but you'll have more money to work with to help you live your own American Dream!

The other way is to get rid of debt as fast as you can.  Contrary to popular belief, You don't need more money to get out of debt,  you just need to spend your money in a different way so that you can eliminate as much interest as you possibly can.  When you pay less interest - you make great strides in paying off the principal of what you owe!  Most people could be debt-free in as little as 5 to 7 years...including their mortgage...without refinancing, without changing their lifestyle.

YES, it is possible.

YES, it's legal and ethical!

NO, it's not new

NO, it doesn't require a refinance

NO, it doesn't require a credit score (good or bad)

When you free yourself from the bondage of debt, you'll be a whole lot happier AND you'll have the choice of sticking with the rat race or living the life you've always wanted to live!
